Council Roles and Responsibilities
Co-Chair
The co-chairs are responsible for:
- Supervising council activities and procedures
- Preparing council agenda and chairing meetings
- Communicating regularly with school principal
- Ensuring regular communication between council and school community
- Ensuring that fundraising activities and uses of funds comply with board policies and guidelines
- Preparing annual report of school council activities
Treasurer
The Treasurer is responsible for:
- Preparing bank deposits and fills out deposit slips for funds raised
- Signing the School Council Cheque Requisition Form (SCCRF) to indicate that school council expenditures are in accordance with school council approvals
- Entering the GST on the SCCRF to enable the secretary to claim the GST rebate
- Reconciling the transactions in the category report to school council deposits and SCCRFs
- Reviewing, signing and dating monthly school council category reports to indicate that transactions have been reconciled deposit slips and SCCRFs
- Providing financial reports at school council meetings, as required
- Preparing annual financial statement for council
Co-Secretary
The Co-secretaries are responsible for:
- Recording, maintaining and reporting accurate minutes of council meetings, including all council decisions
- Ensuring minutes are available in school office for review by parents and students
