The Woodlands School Council along with Administration and staff is pleased to invite parents, students and community members to a free seminar on “Developing Future Leaders”. The seminar is being held on February 22nd at 7:30 p.m. at the Woodlands School.

As a result of the interest in the Speaker Series, we have extended an open invitation to the parents and students of our feeder schools as well as our School Council partners, Loyola Catholic Secondary School and Erindale Secondary School.
Light refreshments will be served. In addition, two lucky attendees will be awarded great door prizes at the end of the presentation. Promotional campaigns are underway within the Woodlands
community to ensure that everyone can take advantage of this excellent opportunity.
To help us estimate food and drink quantities, attendees are asked to register on the website.
The Mississauga News has published an article on our School Council's efforts to promote community involvement in schools and the leadership presentation:

Twenty-three students from the Woodlands Robotics competed in the 8th annual Canadian National Robot Games this past Sunday at the Ontario Science Center and were very successful. The Woodlands team was awarded a thermostatically controlled Soldering Station for being the largest team in attendance. Damien P. won Gold in the Advanced Line-Following Competition upsetting a 4 year reign by Truffle Pig. Damien's speedy little robot was quite the crowd pleaser. Increasingly challenging line courses posed problems but Damien's robot navigated to capture First. Woodlands took all three medals in the Search and Rescue. Bronze was won by Viren G.,Silver was won by Mark S., and Gold was won by Sachin D.. This competition required rescuing a bear and returning it to the hospital by both autonomous and remote controlled robots.
A great start to the robotic season saw Woodlands setting the stage for a very sportsmanlike and successful season. Well done!
The Senior Girls volleyball team kicked off their season with a win against St. Martins. Leading the Rams with kills was Tammy D. and Lisa B. Way to go girls! Next home game is this coming Wednesday.
A reminder to all students planning to apply to university next fall that you can pick up your OUAC PIN number in Student Services. This number is required for you to create an application.
A note from Mr. Dutton
I'd just like to say thank you for supporting our evening at Chapters last night. I hope those of you who attended enjoyed the various performances and talks by students and staff as well as the social aspect of the event.
I'd also like to pass on special thanks to those staff and students who were directly involved in organizing performances and/or presenting and/or assisting with the evening. Without your participation there would be no event as such. I'm sure that all who were present last night were very impressed with the talent and spirit of our ambassadors. I would ask that the teachers pass on special thanks to all the students involved.
I'll send an email regarding what funds we raised when I receive the information from Deirdre at Chapters. For those of you who are curious, the approximately $500 that we raised back in March was used to purchase books for our library. The books purchased came from a wish list of titles submitted by students.
It would be great if the funds we raised from the event last night come close to that from back in March. But, independent of whatever the funds turn out to be, we all shared an enjoyable time.
Kick start your holiday season by joining us at our second annual Chapters Night. It is a night of fun for the entire family. The evening will feature some short music performances, dramatic presentations, books/literacy talks by students and teachers. 10% of all purchases made that evening can be directed toward the Woodlands fund raising event. (IRewards cannot be used toward this event). Please join us for an evening of entertainment and fundraising.
